How long will each Hypnotherapy session last?

This is dependent on both your hypnotherapist and your circumstances. One-off services such as smoking cessation or gastric band hypnotherapy can last around two hours, while a general hypnotherapy session will usually take about an hour.

How many sessions of Hypnotherapy will I need?

The duration of therapy will really be dependent on your circumstances and issues. Some people may require a longer-term approach with regular weekly sessions. Your hypnotherapist will let you know how many sessions they feel you might need when you start therapy and will be flexible when it comes to decreasing or extending the number of sessions according to your progress and needs.

Can I get online Hypnotherapy on Bark?

Absolutely! It couldn’t be easier to find hypnotherapy online using Bark. If you’re unable to travel or don’t feel comfortable leaving your home, you can search for online hypnotherapists only by using our easy filtering tool. We’ll then put you in touch with thousands of trusted hypnotherapists ready to provide their services remotely. How does online Hypnotherapy work?

The only difference between online and offline hypnotherapy is that online hypnotherapy takes place from the comfort of your home. If it’s your first time working with a hypnotherapist, you’ll start by having an introductory chat with them to discuss the issues you’re dealing with and what you are hoping to change or improve through online hypnosis. Your hypnotherapist will then guide you to a natural state of focused attention, via the telephone or an online video communication tool like Zoom. Bark has hundreds of trusted online hypnotherapy experts ready to support you to take control of your life. Just tell us what you need and we’ll put you in touch with the best match for you.

Is online Hypnotherapy effective?

Absolutely! While face-to-face sessions are the most well-known form of hypnotherapy, you might be surprised to hear that online hypnotherapy is just as effective as in-person sessions. In some cases, you may find that it works even more, as feeling more at ease and comfortable in the safety of your own home can only have a beneficial effect.

How much do Hypnotherapists cost?

This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the hypnotherapist holds.

Your professional hypnotherapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted hypnotherapist today.

What should I look for in a Hypnotherapy professional?

There are currently no guidelines in place stipulating the training and qualifications a hypnotherapist must have in order to practice. Industry guidelines recommend that individuals should have completed at least an appropriate diploma or have completed a course that involved a minimum of 450 learning hours, of which 120 hours must have been face-to-face.

Before you choose a hypnotherapist, you could take a look for qualifications and memberships from the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and the Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD).

You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their hypnotherapy services.

What are the benefits of Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with anxiety, depression, anxiety, PTSD, obesity, addictions, fear of flying, public speaking, stopping smoking, insomnia, weight loss amongst others. When combined with methods such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), valuable healing work can begin as quickly as one or two sessions.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Firstly, you'll have a conversation with your therapist to discuss what you hope to achieve and agree on what methods your therapist will use. Afterwards, the hypnotherapist may lead you into a deeply relaxed state using agreed methods to help you towards your goals. For example, suggesting that you don't want to carry out a certain habit gradually bring you out of the trance.

You are fully in control when under hypnosis and don't have to take on the therapist's suggestions if you don't want to. If necessary, you can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state. Most people expect to be put to sleep or to forget what happened afterwards but the opposite is true. You're fully aware the whole time of what is happening.

What do you love most about your job?

Helping people to resolve and overcome their anxiety, depression, abuse - trauma - PTSD, phobias, relationship and sexual problems etc I love working with people. Before I became a full-time therapist in 2007 I spent twenty years working with people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, Autism and challenging behaviour.

I have also volunteered for The British Red Cross (10 years) and the Samaritans (listening volunteer 5 years).

What I don't love about my job is the IT, website developing, social media, computer work :-(

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always been interested in people and in helping and supporting people. Whilst working with people in carework I worked alongside psychologists, speech and language therapists, music and art therapists and this is what really inspired me to become a therapist myself.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a full-time professional therapist with over 14 years of practice and over 130 Five Star Client reviews.

I have Diplomas in Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and NLP.

I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and the General Hypnotherapy Register.

I had been in an extremely bad place for just over 14 years. I wasn't living, I was waiting to die. I came close many times, just wishing it was over. Doctor after doctor, same generic diagnosis again and again. Here's some tablets etc. The usual. Years past but nothing got better. I don't want to go anymore into it. Then I met Vicky. It was one of those thing's when you know you connect. Then it was the fact it actually felt she listened. She didn't respond with what a course told or suggested she had too. She responded to me. Where I was. Who I was at that time. Something no NHS doctor etc ever did as they were just waiting for the next patient, then the next etc. The time she gave me was mine and it wasn't rushed or wasted. Yes I had some bad day's, but only towards the end did I realise it was actually needed. It was part of the mending, my journey. Vicky led me to somewhere I didn't expect when I asked her for help. I wanted, needed help as I was at my end. She didn't just pull me back from the edge, she gave me value and helped me realise who I actually am. I turn 50 soon and I had never truly understood who I am. I do now. Vicky listened, she didn't tell me I had to do this or that. She guided me. All the Doctors I have seen and met up until I met Vicky, did not get who I actually was or what caused my actual symptoms etc. Not one. Vicky saw something in me none of the rest did. Something I had never known myself. She carried me whilst l struggled, while I tried to understand, whilst I climbed out of my hell. A hell which I honestly thought was going to consume me whole. Vicky gave me a new beginning. A reason to live. The strength I needed and brought me to what actually caused my symptoms/pain. This is not only a review for Vicky, it is to say thank you to her. She didn't just help me, she gave me back something I had lost along time ago. My soul. Thank you.

I found Rachel on bark when looking for a way to cure my alcohol habit. Booked a consultation and went from there. She was very patient, listing to my outpourings, as difficult as it was to do and she helped me on my path, always listening and always thoughtful and kind in her reply. I found her easy to trust and a therapist who I cannot recommend enough. I nolonger drink during the week and drink less at weekends than I used to, which was what I was aiming for from the start. Book a consultation, you will not look back.
