Cath Edwards

‘21 Certificate of Excellence

Cath Edwards knows that life can be full of challenges and stress. Sometimes these challenges happen for a short period of time and at other times they can last for longer than you would like them to. They can create anxiety and depression and perhaps behaviours that you don't enjoy like smoking, overeating or not getting enough sleep or exercise. Perhaps your relationships are distressing and your work is unfulfilling. Sometimes there are no external reasons that you can see, you just might not feel 'right' or happy and content and you don't know why. Cath provides online and face to face services and has been doing that for over a decade. Cath works from the heart, treating you as she would want to be treated, with respect, dignity and absolutely no judgement. Cath is a unique mixture of counsellor, therapist (Including Clinical Hypnotherapy) and life coach and knows the best way to support you through your challenges. Maybe you are experiencing anxiety and toxic stress, feeling angry and out of control. Maybe you are feeling depressed and helpless or you have experienced trauma. You could be grieving a loss of a loved one or a place. Perhaps you have lost your job or are unhappy in your current one. You may have unhealthy habits that you want to change for life. There are so many possibilities and so much opportunity to find relief. Cath holds no judgement. Her aim is to get to the root of the problem and walk beside you as you calm your nervous system, heal yourself with a range of strategies and start to live the life you really want to live. Thriving and not just surviving.

What do you love most about your job?

One day I was asked if I would still be working well after retirement age and I answered that I couldn't see myself retiring. I love what I do so much that it is a part of my life.
I absolutely love seeing clients create the changes in their life that allows them to improve relationships, feel less toxic stress and anxiety, improve their mood, sleep more restfully, transition through grief and loss, enjoy their career or just find peace and contentment in their life.
I also enjoy watching clients quit smoking and positively change their relationship with food.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I worked in the corporate arena for many, many years and enjoyed the projects I worked on, the staff I worked with and managed but I always knew there was something more out there for me. I felt I could make a difference on a more personal level that would have a ripple effect on client's relationships, families and communities.
I have worked in a range of settings (Education, Corrections, Planning, Community Engagement, Child abuse, Police Projects, Drug and Alcohol, and Road Safety) and more recently Acute Mental Health for 4 years and decided that I needed t work at the other end of the continuum to support people enough that they didn't need emergency mental health treatment.
Wherever I can support clients to reduce their emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual pain I feel on top of the world! I am all about Mental Health and thriving.

Why should our clients choose you?

I bring warmth, compassion and empathy to my clients. I understand what it feels like to need support and I treat clients just as I would want to be treated, with no judgement or instruction about what should happen in the future. Not only am I a life coach but I am a qualified trauma therapist and clinical hypnotherapist and use a range of techniques that will support the client in the most helpful way possible.
It's helpful to be heard and validated, to work together to find helpful strategies and how to deal with stress and trauma, having a safe space to do that in, is what I would want and that's why I provide that for my clients.
My clients gain clear results and here are a few examples :

"Cath is a life changer. I cannot express how grateful I am to have found her. After many ineffective sessions with councillors and therapists of 10 + years, Cath walked into my life. I felt instantly comfortable and safe around her.
I am a victim of repeated childhood trauma, physical, sexual and emotional abuse, but in my family we didn't talk about it. This had such an impact on my life, that I didn't want to live anymore. I started to see Cath regularly and she helped me work through my trauma. It's not just talking and she uses many different proven therapies, including EMDR and EMIT. I am now a different person. I am here because of me. I have survived trauma and came out the other side on my own.
But, until I found Cath, I was just going through the motions. She helped me to let go of the guilt and self hatred I was carrying.

"When I first saw Cath I was lost, confused and deeply unhappy, I was in an unhealthy marriage that left me powerless and hopeless. I needed support and guidance and in Cath’s sessions I found it. In a relatively short period of time I began to feel capable and strong, I identified the patterns of thinking and behaving that where holding me back, I understood the limiting beliefs that had lead me to my current unhappiness and started to see their lack of substance, I had bought a story about myself that wasn’t true and it was holding me back form feeling happy.

Within 6 months I found the strength to leave my marriage, I went from casual work to full time work in a new career that I had to study for, I had energy and passion and felt capable and strong. I needed constant support to make these changes and Cath went above and beyond, being available for telephone support whenever I needed.

Cath has worked with all of my three teenage children, helping them and guiding them through this huge change in their lives, I have noticed that they are less anxious and depressed and more loving and open. I am so happy that they have gained the skills to make themselves happy. Cath was always there for them, holding them through a very emotional and challenging time.
Eventually Cath worked with my ex husband alone and in group sessions with me to help us work together as parents.
I never realised how happy and peaceful life could be, I know the therapy with Cath has done this for me.
Cath is a very insightful, talented, caring and compassionate therapist. I loved how professional Cath was, I always felt that she was there for me, in every session. I also found Cath very knowledgable, she has a good grasp on how and when to use different treatment methods in therapy.
I would whole heartedly recommend Cath she is remarkable therapist".

"Cath supported us all through a time of family crisis, when no one else seemed to understand. With her loving in tuition, wisdom and skill she has guided us to a safer, calmer and much happier place." Sent with all my love and gratitude J and L 2020

"Cath made me feel really relaxed. I was having trouble dealing with loss, and she helped me feel much better about it. She's really nice and really understanding as well. She taught me how to express my feelings more".
T - 10 year old 2020
"Cath had come highly recommended, so I knew I was in god hands when I booked an appointment with her to help me deal with two traumatic episodes life had thrown at me. But I underestimated the difference it would make. I felt truly listened to and understood, and the techniques that Cath is highly skilled in using worked to dramatically lessen the intensity of emotion I was feeling in relation to the trauma. I haven't forgotten what happened, but can move on with life now and experience joy again
VS - Mother 2020
"My daughter was assaulted and I was traumatised, I couldn't continue to function normally, I would relive the experience and be overwhelmed by sadness and anger at what she had gone through. For all of us I needed to move to a better place. I went to see Cath Edwards, I felt safe and supported in her space and we worked through what I had made the experience man. Her gentle kind approach combined with great skill helped me to reframe the situation and to let go of the trauma around it. I am so very grateful I found her.

Emanuel is very easy to talk to. He makes you feel safe and comfortable to talk about your situation. His advice and feedback is very detailed and helpful. I would highly recommend Emanuel to anyone looking for advice and help in their life or relationship.

Emmanuel has been extremely supportive in helping me through a difficult period in my life. He does not provide the answers rather encourages and supports you in finding what works best for you. He has many useful tools and strategies and shows you how to implement each of these into your daily routine. Emmanual has not only been supportive to me during session but has also reached out, following up after sessions and checking in regularly. He is a very caring person, seeing and believing the potential in me as well as an excellent life coach. I would highly recommend Emmanuel.
